Some part of my mind was clearly hung on nostalgia this day.
Bing Crosby sang this to Dorothy Lamour in 1942's Road To Morocco.
Morocco was the third, most successful and screwiest of the series he did with Bob Hope and Lamour. It was the kind of absurdist comedy that appealed strongly to me even in when I was a boy, and it helped clear the way for Monty Python and the frequently hilarious "bad joke" movies that started with Airplane.
Hope got the punch lines, Crosby got the girl and sang at least one romantic ballad in each film.
I liked this melody the first time I heard it as a child, but why it buried intself in my mind this morning is a mystery.
